- FAIR - Forecasting and Adaptive Infrastructure Resilience
Responsabile scientifico: Cristoforo Demartino. **
Metriche interpretabili, logica fuzzy, preferenze linguistiche, modelli parametrici e workflow human-in-the-loop saranno utilizzati per tradurre obiettivi qualitativi e prestazionali in criteri computazionali. I casi studio potranno riguardare ponti, stazioni, edifici di servizio, pensiline, strutture leggere, sistemi di protezione climatica, componenti adattivi e, ove pertinente, facciate o schermature.
- FAIR - Forecasting and Adaptive Infrastructure Resilience
Scientific supervisor: Cristoforo Demartino.
** The two funded positions are part of the FAIR - Forecasting and Adaptive Infrastructure Resilience project, aimed at developing predictive and adaptive methodologies for the resilience of infrastructure and the built environment under extreme climatic events. The project integrates artificial intelligence, sensing, multi-source data, digital twins, edge computing, numerical modelling, risk management and adaptation strategies. **POSITION 1 - TITLE: "Multi-source data integration and artificial intelligence models for multi-hazard forecasting of resilient infrastructure". Description: The research concerns the development of a FAIR pipeline to acquire, integrate and analyse multi-source data related to environmental conditions, climatic actions and the structural response of bridges and critical infrastructure. Meteorological, hydrological, satellite, local sensing, IoT, historical and experimental data will be considered. The objective is to develop machine-learning and deep-learning models for site-specific forecasting of extreme events, probabilistic assessment of their impact on infrastructure and definition of risk indicators to be used within digital twins and decision-support systems. Specific attention will be given to data quality, data fusion, temporal synchronization, uncertainty, model interpretability and scalability of the framework. ***POSITION 2 - TITLE: "Computational and agentic design of adaptive structures for architecture and resilient infrastructure". Description: The research develops an architectural trajectory within the FAIR project, focusing on the computational design of adaptive structures, architectural-structural components, lightweight systems and spatial devices able to respond to variable environmental, structural and use-related conditions. The objective is to integrate design intent, morphology, structural behaviour, sensing, digital twins, generative AI and agentic design-support systems. Interpretable metrics, fuzzy logic, linguistic preferences, parametric models and human-in-the-loop workflows will be used to translate qualitative and performance-oriented objectives into computational criteria. Case studies may include bridges, stations, service buildings, canopies, lightweight structures, climate-protection systems, adaptive components and, where relevant, facades or shading systems.
